These women and men have committed to supporting the development of a solid screening tool and process, and their enthusiasm, commitment and input has been vital to the projects success.
They met to workshop and discuss issues surrounding the mental health and well-being of Aboriginal families, barriers and enablers to screening, mental health screening tools, what makes Aboriginal mothers and fathers strong. Outcomes from this hard work have informed the direction of the data collection process:
- Systematic literature review and meta-synthesis of data
- 'Yarning' with individual Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander men & women.
- Semi-structured interviews with the midwives, child health nurses & GPs working with Aboriginal mothers & fathers.
- The development & distribution of the 31 question health professional online survey.
- Key informant workshops with community & service providers.
- Screening tool analysis workshops
- Development of 'Baby Coming - You Ready?' rubric and recommended assets based on results
